consists of 34 major islands and over 1,000 small atolls. The total land mass is only about 70 square miles and the population is estimated at over 50,000. You will note that they have a National Police Force as well as several atoll or Municipal forces.
The use of Kwajalein Police insignia confuses many collectors. There are two police forces which wear Kwajalein Police patches. There is a municipal force that wears a patch which reads “Kalgov Police”, in addition you will also see many patches with “Kwajalein” spelled out. Most of these are worn on the U.S. military base on Kwajalein Atoll and have nothing to do with the Marshall Islands Government. Police services on the Kwajalein military base are contracted out to private security firms in the USA, hence the variety of patches.
